Q: What are the Benefits to Hot Yoga and Infrared Heaters?
A: There are so many benefits to hot yoga with the use of infrared heat you will wonder why you have not tried a class before. Here are the top 10 reasons to try Hot Yoga at krissyoga, in no particular order:
-
Detoxification – Sweating is the body's safe and natural way to heal and stay healthy. Between the movements and breath of yoga combined with the infrared heat, the body will rise in core temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where the toxins reside.
-
Relaxation and Stress Relief – Infrared heat and the perfect yoga class for you can be gentle, soothing and therapeutic which promotes relaxation and improved sleep. Take a different approach and attempt a challenging, invigorating yoga practice in the heat and experience a deep tissue sweat that leaves you fully refreshed and stresses released.
-
Lower Blood Pressure – Infrared heat mixed with yoga induces a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and helps circulation.
-
Anti-Aging and Skin Purification – The infrared wavelength is the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. It also stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin tone. Mix this with yoga and not only look young but feel the youth and freedom in your body.
-
Cell Health – Infrared therapy combined with a powerful, mindful yoga practice stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body's cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin's surface to improve cell health, aid in muscle recovery and strengthen the immune system.
-
Weight Loss – Studies have shown that benefits of infrared heat and a workout style yoga session can burn 600-1000 calories. As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.
-
Pain Relief – Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions. It is also used in treatment plans to decrease pain and muscle spasms and to speed up recovery time. Add yoga for your needs and the two will have you enjoying your inner peace.
-
Improved Circulation – Yogic movement and heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in the blood flow.
-
Mindfulness – Possibly one of the most significant benefits of hot yoga and infrared heat is the increased connectivity with the body, gained from regular practice. The intense focus needed to mindfully practice any yoga in heat causes the chatter of the mind to decrease, leaving one less mentally preoccupied, both in and out of class.
-
Strengthen Body – Yoga poses use every muscle in your body from the top of your head, to the tips of your toes and to the very deepest part of your inner core. The benefits from doing yoga with infrared heat not allow the muscle to lengthen farther but to strengthen close to the bones, which increase the support of your skeletal structure overall.
** To experience these benefits, one most have a daily practice of hot yoga and mindfulness.

Q: What is HOT Yoga?
A: Hot yoga is any style of yogic movement in a room that is heated with slightly humid conditions. At krissyoga anywhere from 1 to 4 infrared heaters are used to regulate the temperature of the room.
Q: What is an Infrared Heater?
A: An infrared heater uses electromagnetic energy to supply heat. The energy emitting from the source goes through air to hit the first object it 'sees', transferring the energy to the object and heating it up. It's light is not visible because infrared light is beyond the spectrum we see. Infrared heat is the most similar to the sun. The invisible light gets absorbed by our skin, clothes and other objects around creating heat. For example imagine it is a hot sunny day, you are sitting on the beach, the invisible light rays of the sun beaming down on you. The first couple of minutes it is nice, you feel the warmth and then it becomes unbearable not only is your clothing hot, your skin, and to the core of your body. Imagine the exact same scenario but with an umbrella blocking the invisible light rays. It is suddenly not nearly as hot in the same situation because these rays are being blocked. The infrared heaters heat the body to the core similar to the sun.
Q: Is Infrared Heat Safe?
A: Not all forms of heat are created equally, some healthy and others not. Infrared is considered to be one of the safest forms of heat in an enclosed room. Below are just a few important points when considering the safety of infrared heat:
-
Zero Emissions – Infrared technology does not require any chemicals to operate and the unit emits absolutely zero pollutants into the environment.
-
Clean Air – Infrared heaters do not affect the oxygen levels in the room. Not to mention it won't agitate the possibly allergen laden particles in the air because the wavelengths do not require circulation to generate heat.
-
Stops Mold in its Tracks – Infrared heat is a dry air preventing very little condensation which means the less mold and mildew will be able to grow.
-
Boost the Immune System – The human skin is a sponge and made for infrared heat. The light penetrates the human tissue which in turn produces a host of anti-aging health benefits and creating an overall healthy immune system.
